News About Samsung Galaxy S III 64 GB

Here is a news from Samsung mobiles about the 64 GB Galaxy S III, taken from Android Central blog. Let's read.

After UK retailer Expansys started cancelling orders for the 64GB variety of the Galaxy S III, we feared that Samsung may have given up on the device. Apparently, that's not the case, as today a company's spokesperson has stepped in to clarify the situation.

Samsung Galaxy S III 64 GB

Here's what he told Android Central about the Galaxy S III 64GB model being cancelled by retailers in Europe:

"The 64GB model of the GALAXY S III will be available during the second half of this year. The market availability and timing may vary and will be determined at the time of release."

So, Galaxy S III fans who've been waiting for the 64GB model should breathe a sigh of relief, even though the wait isn't over. After all, if you absolutely must have 128GB of storage (with a 64GB microSD card), you waiting a couple of extra months shouldn't be too hard for you.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn't disclosed the market availability and which regions will enjoy its flagship smartphone.

The trial lasted for Apple-Samsung showed prototypes of new iPhone

As we already know about the patent dispute between Samsung and Apple are still ongoing and increasingly bitter. Here Samsung cell phone manuals find information on the continuation of the feud is that our reports from the website theverge.com via GSM Arena blog. Here's the news:

The second day of the Apple vs. Samsung trial went interesting to say the least. After the court denied Samsung the right to make an argument that a Sony concept was the real inspiration behind iPhone's design, the Koreans decided to take matters into their own hands and released the evidence, which has been previously dismissed by the court.

Samsung-Apple design

The evidence in question consists of twelve slides showing that Samsung couldn't have possibly ripped Apple off as they've been working on devices like it months before iPhone's launch. Such device is the company's F700, among others. However, Judge Lucy Koh has had enough of that and got really irritated with Samsung's actions. She even asked John Quinn, Samsung's lead attorney, to write a declaration explaining his role in releasing the excluded evidence to the press.

Judge Koh had already rejected the evidence multiple times. She noted that "Samsung has filed like 10 motions for reconsideration," and even threatened Quinn with personal sanctioning. This came after reportedly, he literally begged the court to reconsider its decision about the evidence in question.

Back to the trial at hand, it became clear that Samsung's position in all this is that they did not copy the iPhone and that even though they may have used some tech patented by Apple (the touchscreen), it is Apple that is infringing on much more important patents held by Samsung (3G stuff).

Charles Verhoeven, Samsung's attorney, stated Apple did not invent the rectangular design with rounded corners (hence the leak of the discarded evidence): "Samsung is not some copyist, some Johnny come lately doing knockoffs," he added. Verhoeven also went through Apple's list of patents and tossed them aside one by one citing reasons why they should be excluded.

Christopher Stringer, Apple's veteran designer since 1995, was first to take the stand as the company's witness. As he went on with his testimony, he revealed a lot of the early iPhone and iPad prototype designs. Additionally, Stringer stated that Apple has been "ripped off". "It's a huge leap in imagination to come up with something new. That's what we did," added the veteran Apple designer.

Fortunately, TheVerge.com got hold of those prototype's images. Check out some of them below, and we'll let you be the judge if they resemble anything familiar.

Samsung-Apple design

The trial continues today with the testimonies of Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, and Scott Forstall, Apple's Senior Vice President of iOS Software starting at 9AM Pacific time.

Samsung Galaxy S III Will Be Launched for Five US Major Carriers

Samsung has announced that they will be launching the Samsung Galaxy S III on US market for five major carriers. The phones will go on sale beginning this June and will have a starting price of $199, although the exact launch date and price will be announced separately by the individual carriers later.

The phone in question has the dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor with 2GB of RAM, instead of the quad-core Exynos 4 Quad and 1GB RAM on the international model. The reason for this switch is to include support for the US LTE bands.

Samsung Galaxy S III

Samsung mentions that the phone will have customized services depending upon the carrier but there is no information regarding whether this will only be limited to network plans or will extend to software and hardware customizations. It does seem though this time, unlike with the Galaxy S II that had various hardware configurations across the carriers, the Galaxy S III will remain the same.

As mentioned before, no exact launch dates or pricing has been mentioned but you can look forward to individual announcements from your favorite carriers detailing these things shortly.

US Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Shipped to Retailers Before Official Announcement?

Word got out about the latest Samsung Galaxy Note that allegedly had been up to the retailer before officially announced the Samsung U.S. Event. These news reports of our CT-Miami, following is the report.

The US Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is expected to be announced at the Samsung US event on August 15 but US retailers are already receiving units. The model number of the recent stock is the same as the European variety so perhaps what we're witnessing is the first wave of availability of the international Galaxy Note 10.1, and not the US spec device.

Samsung Galaxy Note

US retailer CT-Miami sent us some unboxing pictures of the Note 10.1 they have. The specs include a 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 resolution display, 6.5mm S Pen stylus, quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in memory, 5 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, 3G+GPS, a 7000mAh battery and an IR LED to use the tablet as a remote control.

What's more interesting is that these specs and the model number printed on the box indicate that this is the European model, which makes us curious as to why the American retailers are getting it. There is no LTE support and the HSPA bands will only work with AT&T's HSPA network.

Meanwhile, another US retailer - Negri Electronics - tweeted earlier today a similary photo of an unboxed picture of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and mentioned that it “ships 8/3”, although it's not clear to whom the device is shipping on that day.

It's either that the retailers are getting their stock before the alleged launch event on August 15 or as we already said, those are the first available international Galaxy Note 10.1 units (officially, it's still has a Coming Soon status). So far however, we haven't found retailers on our side of the ocean that have the tablet.

Samsung never confirmed that their August event in the US is dedicated on the Galaxy Note 10.1, but if it is, we guess they will show a proper US spec model that even has LTE support.

Samsung Break Smartphone Sales in Q2

As a big cell phone vendor, Samsung always present new technology in the cell phone products. The latest great cell phone that produced by Samsung mobiles is Samsung Galaxy S III. The official numbers aren't out just yet, but according to Reuters, Samsung might have broken the smartphone sales record in what is otherwise considered a pretty slow quarter.

Samsung Galaxy S III

Reuters polled 41 analysts and, based on their estimates, claim that the Korean company shipped 50 million smartphones in Q2. That would make Samsung an undisputed smartphone leader as the second-placed Apple reportedly experienced a drop in its sales and shipped 30 million units compared to 35 million in Q1.

Undoubtedly the strong performance of Samsung is helped by the launch of its flagship device - the Galaxy S III, which first became available at the end of May. With the smartphone only finding its way to the US shelves in Q3 we should probably expect more good news from Samsung in three months' time.

As for Apple - the demand for the iPhone was naturally weaker in Q2 as it's starting to show signs of age (the 4S was already 8 months old at the end of the quarter). There are also rumors that this has forced Apple to move the launch of the iPhone 5 to an earlier date, reportedly at the start of August, instead of the planned October release.

The Reuters report also points at Samsung as the World's number one cellphone manufacturer in general, a title the company holds for a second consecutive quarter after overtaking Nokia in Q1. According to the analysts the Koreans sold a total of 95.8 million mobile phones (that's smartphones and featurephones) during Q2, compared to the 80.1 million that Nokia managed.

The bit of good news for Nokia is that the company managed to ship 3.71 million Windows Phone smartphones, which is a more than 65% increase over the 2.2 million in the first three months of the year. If the Finns manage to retain the same level of growth through the year they might be back in the smartphone game come the holiday quarter.
